Hello from Chattanooga, Tennessee

Friday, October 30, 2009

And that's it my friends. Have a great weekend and an awesome Halloween.
Final pre-sprint planning planning at NFi Studios.
OH: "You know he's a sales guy. He wouldn't let us talk."
Time to make good on my promise of beer for the NFi team for finishing the entire sprint. Yay motivation :)
For Halloween I think I'll be a guy on a road trip with his family.

Looks like I have lists in my Twitter. Happy days!
Gearing up for my last day at NFi Studios. It's been a great time with an awesome team.

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Looks like cake time here at NFi Studios. Happy birthday Rene!
After reading a lot about the agile enterprise, I think I'll keep my feet in the small/mid-size biz pond for now.
RT @mikewcohn posted a reusable presentation on the benefits of agile at http://bit.ly/bWXfA Data from Chapter 1
Finishing up my last days @nfistudios. I'll miss this great team of people. But they're local so I'll see them again :)
I've decided that if I cannot comment on a post, I'm not going to read it. I might miss something good, but giving feedback is important.

Gearing up for another exciting day.

And I'm off for the evening. A good morning, day, and night to you all.
And I'm back to Firefox after the latest update of Camino killed off 1Passwd. Yes, it's that important to me.

Time to dig into this book and then go to bed. A good night to all.
Apparently my brain thinks that I need to read even more. I continue to order books people recommend. So far they steer me right.
Heading to the Entrepreneur Round Table in a bit. http://ping.fm/EYNn3 Then back home to get back on it.
Damn, how did I miss this? http://ping.fm/9auSd
Considering submitting an agile talk for RailsConf 2010. I wonder if there's any desire for it...
I find that many of our clients are on their way down the agile road, they just need some guidance so they don't veer too far
Just got a nice call welcoming me to @AMA_Tampa_Bay. A big hello to all of my marketing peeps in Tampa.
Personally I'd love to have Family Guy do an ad for anything for my business. They are not too raunchy for me. I'm a fan.
Two blog UI updates in one day. I can't handle the awesome :P http://ping.fm/LqlRK
Heading to a lunch meeting to talk about ADS Skirmish with a potential client.
It upsets me when sites only work in IE.

Apps I fire up each morning (on my Mac): Camino, Mail, iMovie, Adium, Tweetie, NetNewsWire, Evernote, Path Finder.
Looking forward to an awesome day @nfistudios, and a great Entrepreneur Roundtable meetup tonight.

Monday, October 26, 2009

Time for a nap and then get back to it.
And it's time to head home. Later all!
Customer focused does not mean pushing content on users. It means listening and incorporating feedback and ideas. Pull, not push.
Are there any RSS readers, web or desktop (Mac) that can remove duplicates? I have ~200 feeds I watch and de-duping would be great.
InfoQ: Agile Distributed Development Done Right Using Fully Distributed Scrum http://bit.ly/144J6B A great talk.
This is shaping up to be an awesome week. Looking forward to my upcoming customer road trip this weekend too. Time to travel!

A great day with the family is coming to a close. Tomorrow includes creating new tour videos for the big update to Scrum'd this week.
Even at 95 degrees corn mazes are cool. Italian Ice FTW!
Family day!

Friday, October 23, 2009

Palamee is graduating from Safe Start next week. She can float like a champ and do a bit of swimming too. I'm a very proud daddy.
Ah pre-sprint planning planning.
I got a little carried away with my coments on this post: Where is the real innovation happening? http://bit.ly/4mbxJz
Looks like I'll be spending part of my weekend doing new videos for @scrumd. Exciting update coming next week.
From the first comment on this post - http://bit.ly/1mGUoL - people still have some serious misconceptions of how agile works.
Get an MBA, Later: http://ping.fm/4bsM1
This morning's commute time: 0. Working from home until I go to the dentist, then back to NFi for another awesome day.

Thursday, October 22, 2009

And that's my night. See you all in the AM.

The @crushitchalleng is a great way to win a free autographed copy of crushit by @garyvee. All you need to do is show your passion.
Time to go talk turkey with Justin over some Chipotle.
Time to go home. Looking forward to meeting with @blaix tonight.
Perhaps not surprisingly, all the ads that Facebook is showing me are for Windows 7.
Hooray to Inc. Magazine: http://ping.fm/MksD4
Why Are You Moderating Your Comments?: http://ping.fm/f7wbC
For $8/month why did I not have a Blip.tv (@bliptv) Pro account? That's now changed.
I'm looking forward to working with Josh Hemsley (@joshhemsley) on the Tumblr design for the @crushitchalleng.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

And that's it for this day. See you all bright and early in the AM.
Excellent. Disqus comments enabled on the ADS Blog: http://ping.fm/S5fQC
Trying a new combination of Tweetie + RSS feeds for Twitter searches. Let's see how it goes.
Back at it for the evening doing my thing.
Time to go watch my daughter learn to swim. Later all.
Damn, another blog moderating all of their comments. I'm going to have to do a post about this, and allow all comments.
It's annoying that companies moderate comments on their blogs. That's what spam filters are for my friends. Gives me a bad taste.
Just went back to a 1 column Seesmic set up. Can't wait to see the next desktop version of Tweetie. It *might* make me switch. But not yet.
Tomorrow I'm back to wearing shorts, or at least sandals. It's heated back up.
Any designers out there familiar with Tumblr? I need a custom theme done asap for the crushitchallenge. Ping me, please please.
Looking forward to meeting more of our clients in November. Let the travel begin!
Welcome to the Crush It! Challenge [Video]: http://ping.fm/cxKF5
Using iMovie to record a video about the crushitchallenge. Posting it this morning to kick start the fun.

Monday, October 19, 2009

Another great day comes to an end. Time for bed. See you all tomorrow.
Heading downtown for a day with @nfistudios.

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Up for day 2 here in Jacksonville. Getting ready to head to breakfast and then BarCamp Jax. I have a talk at the ready!

Saturday, October 17, 2009

w00t! I got my 30 copies of crushit for @garyvee to sign. The crushitchallenge is almost ready to begin!
Waiting for the first talk to begin at LessConf

Friday, October 16, 2009

Heading to Tampa.
Today is looking like a great day, minus continued billing issues with @scrumd. Time to squash that once and for all.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Looking forward to the AMA event in Tampa tomorrow followed by our trip to @LessConf. It should be a great weekend.
Tip: when approaching an employer, ask when you can call them. Don't tell them when they can call you. That's called being an ass.
Apparently Java applets suck in every browser I have, and I have many.
My blog post this morning will be about agile transformations. I'm interested to learn of your experiences and lessons.
@nfistudios interviews begin today. Let's see if people have done their research :)

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Time to see what mischief the Internet is producing this evening. And perhaps a little iphone dev too.
Anyone that DMs me money offers on Twitter will be blocked. Have a great rest of your day.
Being mysterious might work in a club or bar. As a vendor approaching me, it doesn't. Am I more curious or turned off? Def turned off.
+1 for free wifi at the car dealership.
My >2YO daughter knows how to NOT hang up on me when talking on the iPhone. That's an intuitive and easy-to-use product. I love it :)
Dr Nic’s install_theme http://bit.ly/k7bGT looks very cool for us Rails folk.
Reading an industry white paper, and not surprised to see most CEOs talking about features and functionality as the differentiator. Wrong.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Time to go watch my little one swim. She'll be surprised to see Daddy so soon. This is the best part of the day.
I just finished reading the user stories sent to us by a soon-to-be client. Words cannot describe how awesome it is to get user stories.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Time for a little late night work while the TV plays. Animonday starts soon :)
Going home!
Outlook: rockin. Time to get my Internet research hat on again and dig up the infos. It's amazing what you can find when you look :)
Can any of my peeps get to linkedin.com? I get nada.
Ready for another awesome week.

Friday, October 9, 2009

Awesome morning. Heading to lunch. Looking forward to a great afternoon.
Been at it for about an hour. Today is a very exciting day.

Thursday, October 8, 2009

Heading to BJ's for dinner and then ORUG.
Before sending any resumes for the Agile PM Job (and a ScrumMaster job coming soon), please watch rockthejob.com for resume and job advice.
Looking forward to ORUG this evening. We're meeting for dinner at BJ's (near DeVry) at 6, then talking genetic algs and doc dbs at 7. Rm 114
I'm helping my client @nfistudios look for an Agile Web Dev PM. Job description coming soon. If interested and in Orlando ping me.
Quick tip: when applying for a job, don't just attach a cover letter or bullet point your experience in the email. Make me want to continue.
Thanks everyone for you iPhone book and video recommendations.
Justin and I will be talking at ORUG tonight: genetic algorithms and document databases. 7 PM at DeVry by Mall at Millenia. C U there!
Today's lesson is that it's time to get a style guide.
Ready for an awesome day with the @nfistudios crew, and then ORUG tonight with @blaix. What's on your agenda?

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Any recommendations for a good starter iphone book? Thank you kindly.
Digging into my first experience with @phonegap. Anyone work with it before?
Time to head home and be with the fam. Tonight is working on @scrumd and checking out @phonegap for iPhone dev. Time to learn more stuffs.
It feels good knowing that I can help.
I've been lucky lately to work with CEO's that truly care about their people, and believe in agile and transparency. Confidence restored.

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Great day in Sarasota today. Good to be back home with the family. More excellent work ahead tomorrow. Have a great night everyone.

Monday, October 5, 2009

Looking forward to an awesome day in Sarasota tomorrow. 2.5 hour drive demands I go to bed. Good night all.
If there is anything I've learned from retrofitting tests into my code it's that writing tests isn't that hard. So, why not do it first?
Just heard beer used as a negotiating tool in sprint planning. agile scrum
Firefox has become a huge memory hog. Aside from Safari (which I'm back to), any browser recommendations for the Mac?

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Heading to day 2 of izeafest. See you there.

Friday, October 2, 2009

Heading to bed and looking forward to another day of izeafest tomorrow. We'll see how many make it on time after the Icebar :)
Time to head home from izeafest. See you all tomorrow. It's family time my friends.
Bringing more people into the @localdigerati family.
@izeafest for the day. So far things are going very smooth, and I have a bag of goodies.

Thursday, October 1, 2009

The latest version of Growl has been released: http://growl.info/ growl mac
I'm loving Highrise. Much simpler than Salesforce, which is what we need.
Ack! BrightKite is down for maintenance. I now feel completely lost and don't know where I am.
